Or, Giving flowers to our beloved poets while it's still legal
I love that you found that anthology (or perhaps it found you!) those years later, Joshunda. Thank you for showing love to the poets 💜.
So much love for y’all, always. 🌟💐 Perhaps it found me. I like that better.
Clint Smith is a contemporary favorite of mine. Thanks for writing!
A great addition!
Langston Hughes, Harlem -aka- A Dream Deferred, thank for asking
Aww I remember that poem from middle school. We sang it as part of a school wide assembly. I still think of stanzas in the melody of our songs lol.
Lucille Clifton's poems are ones I think about weekly and have on the wall where I meditate. I love Blessing the Boats and I Am Running Into A New Year. I taught Linkage (for Phillis Wheatley) for years.
I love this, Erin. I think about Lucille Clifton all the time. I am not that familiar with Linkage.
One of my fave is “In da morning" by Paul Lawrence Dunbar
I may have read Dunbar but I feel like not enough. Thanks for sharing.
Jos poems were written in the "southern dialect" which made them even more enjoyable.
